Subscribers get more the money
TIPP CITY & WEST MILTON - Subscribers to the Tipp City Herald and West Milton Record will get more for their money with the new Sunday Record Herald.

Current Paid In Advance (PIA) subscribers of the Tipp City Herald OR the West Milton Record will receive a huge benefit with this announcement. Every Sunday, until the residence's current subscription ends, the subscriber will receive BOTH the Miami Valley Sunday News AND the new Sunday Record-Herald at no additional cost.

Families that subscribe to the Troy Daily News, but are NOT current subscribers of either the Tipp City Herald or the West Milton Record will now receive the new Sunday Record-Herald at NO additional cost.

Tipp City Herald and West Milton Record mail subscribers (in county, and out of county) will now receive the Sunday Record-Herald each week. Due to postage rates, weekly subscribers will not receive the Miami Valley Sunday News along with the new Sunday Record-Herald. Current mail rates will continue at $38 (in county); $48 (out of county) for one year.

Those families that currently subscribe to the Troy Daily News (Sunday through Saturday) AND the Tipp City Herald or the West Milton Record will receive an automatic extension on their current TDN subscription equal to the amount paid in advance for either of the weekly newspapers.

As a special offer to new subscribers in Tipp City and West Milton, the Miami Valley Sunday News is being offered as a Sunday-only home delivery for $5.10 (four weeks); $14.50 (13 weeks); $26.50 (26 weeks); $49 (52 weeks). The price for a full-year subscription versus news stand price represents a savings of $29 or 37 percent off the news stand price. Single copy price for the Miami Valley Sunday News will remain at $1.50. Note: News stands and in-store locations in Tipp City and West Milton, beginning Oct. 12, will now include the new Sunday Record-Herald.

To subscribe to the new Miami Valley Sunday News and the Sunday Record-Herald, please call the Troy Daily News Circulation Department 937-335-5634.

Record, Herald combine to produce Sunday paper
TIPP CITY & WEST MILTON - Readers will see a new look and receive the paper on a new day beginning next week. Today's issues of the Tipp City Herald and the West Milton Record will transform next week into the brand-new Sunday Record Herald.

This new product will be included with the Troy Daily News' product the Miami Valley Sunday News for the first time Oct. 12. The new Record Herald will feature both Tipp City and West Milton communities along with Bethel Township.

The new Sunday Record Herald will help the company continue to be more green.

"Going green has become a catch phrase for many businesses; we're putting such words into action," said Frank L. Beeson, Group Publisher of the Greater Miami Valley Newspapers.

"By combining two deliveries into one, we will be saving gas and time on home delivery routes. Sunday is also the day when our readers have more leisure time; it is the highest read day of the week ... We're simply giving the readers a combined product, giving them more time to be entertained and informed, " he added.

There are many new advantages for advertisers as well as readers with this new product.

The new Sunday Record Herald will remain a Times Community Newspaper, now allowing advertisers to receive advertising rate discounts through Times Community Newspapers OR the I-75 Newspapers (Troy Daily News, Piqua Daily Call, Sidney Daily News).

Readers will see that the Sunday Record Herald is a separate newspaper from the Miami Valley Sunday News. There will be a localized classified section inside the Sunday Record Herald and a more regionalized classified section as a separate section inside the Miami Valley Sunday News.

"This is really a win-win for all readers in southern Miami County," Managing Editor Merrilee Embs said of the new combined products.

There will be a new look and a new day, but the goal of the new staff is to still produce a news-feature product that contains what you want to read on a weekly basis.

Embs said, "This is your newspaper, each community will still have dedication to covering community news. We wanted a paper that contains the things you know, but to add a few new things too."

Embs and Assistant Editor Amanda Crowe started at the helm on Sept. 15 and have many plans for the Sunday Record Herald.

Readers will still see local news, opinion, education and lifestyle pages. That means we still depend on the readers to get us their letters to the editor, wedding and engagement announcements and news and school story ideas. Being a Sunday weekly publication we plan to cover news stories with a more in-depth look. While the Troy Daily News will continue to cover news as it happens in the county they will also be covering prep (high school) sports for our areas. But just because they are covering high school sports doesn't mean we don't want all the local pee-wee, junior high and little league sports.

"This is your paper and we want to do an even better job than ever - giving readers the kind of newspaper they want," said Embs.

Along with the new day and look there will be a new format for the website to encourage more community participation. The website will link from Times Community Newspapers either through the West Milton Record or the Tipp City Herald or you can go to www.sundayrecordherald.com.

Once you register at the site with your email address you may view the stories and post to the site itself. There will be a chance to blog about subjects and to post items to the web.

"We really hope that because Tipp City and West Milton readers already participate in the website each week that they will visit more often and get even more involved. We see this as an even bigger benefit for our readers," said Embs.
