Volunteers from The Home Depot and South YMCA joined forces to build a state-of-the-art new “KaBOOM!” playground in just one day.
The volunteers gathered June 22 at the South YMCA, 4545 Marshall Rd. in Kettering.
The playground’s design is based on drawings by children from the Kettering area who attended a Design Day in May. The build is funded through a $47,200 grant from The Home Depot alogn with a $10,000 contribution from South YMCA. In addition to providing funding for the project, more than 150 associates from the local The Home Depot stores spent their day off helping build the brightly-colored playground.
The project is part of KaBOOM! and The Home Depot’s effort to create and refurbish 1,000 playspaces in 1,000 days.
