Ask any longtime Dayton local about Neil’s Heritage House and you’ll hear about the restaurant’s elegant decor, the fantastic French Onion soup, and prime rib, and the sad acknowledgment of a local landmark gone dark.
Two years after it closed, Neil’s Heritage House, located at 2323 W. Schantz Ave., is up for sale by the original family owners.
Neil’s Heritage House has been a fixture in the Dayton area since 1946. Launched by Neil Swafford and located on Linden Ave., Neil’s Linden House was known for its exceptional fine dining and attentive service. In its current location on Schantz Ave., Swafford sold the restaurant to Walter Schaller in the mid 1970s where the restaurant, lounge, banquet facility and catering service stayed busy until Schaller retired in 2006.
“There are few restaurants with the size and elegance of Neil’s Heritage House,” Richard Moody of Dayton Commercial Realty, said. “Not only is it a Dayton classic, but its memory still lives on.
“The family is finally ready to sell and hopes to see another high-quality restaurant or banquet complex fill its place.”
The 25,000 square foot and restaurant and office space is ready for occupancy. The elegant interior is timelessly classic while the large banquet space is ideal for conferences, reunions, wedding receptions and private parties.
