There are two sessions. The first session is at 9 a.m. The second session is at 7 p.m. Babysitting will be provided at the 7 p.m. session.
Both sessions will last about an hour and will include coffee, drinkds and snacks.
Study Island is a 24/7 electronic resource for students in the areas of reading and math.
Study Island has been incorporated as a way to increase student performance scores on the State of Ohio Assessments in reading and in math. Regular use of Study Island not only helps students who may have difficulty with reading and math, it also supports high achieving students who want to achieve and score at an even higher level.
These one-hour sessions are designed to help parents support their children in using Study Island at home.
Specific areas that will be addressed include:
How to log on.
How to access the various lessons on specific topics.
Selecting lessons and instructional areas for practice.
Monitoring student progress and success.
The resources on Study Island have been designed to mirror the school district's Course of Study in reading and in math. The questions are designed based on the formats of the Ohio Achievement Assessments. The program is parent and student "friendly..
Parents can make a reservation by calling 748-4113.
As a special incentive, every student who has a parent attend one of these sessions will receive a $1 voucher to be used in the SI Student Supply Store, compliments of the SI PTO. The attending parent will be given the voucher to take home.
