Lighting of Community Christmas Tree Nov. 30
Annual lighting of the Community Christmas Tree is set for Monday, Nov. 30 at 6 p.m. in the Huber Centre located at 6182 Chambersburg Road. Plan to participate in a family evening of fun and memories, horse drawn wagon rides, entertainment, refreshments and a visit with Santa.

This year the Wayne Township/Huber Heights Historical Society will be kicking off the celebration of the 2010 Bicentennial of Wayne Township during the lighting of the Community Christmas Tree.

A "Celebration of the Trees" will be part of the weekend festivities. Organizations and businesses are asked to participate in a tree decorating contest. There will be a silent auction of the trees and the winners of the highest bid will be announced at 8 p.m. on Nov. 30.

The theme will be 1810 and participants will decorate the artificial trees to reflect that theme. The trees will be on display Saturday, Nov. 28, Sunday, Nov. 29 and also prior to the official lighting ceremony on Monday, Nov. 30 from 5 to 8 pm.

Proceeds from this sale will benefit the Wayne Township/Huber Heights Historical Society. There will also be entertainment during the evening of Sunday the 29th St. Peter's Children's Choir will perform at 7 pm and 30th the Wayne High School Choir will perform at 6 pm. Thanks to Gem City Screen, a model railroad will also be on display for everyone to view. Wayne Township was founded on January 20, 1810 and plans for a year- long celebration are currently underway. This is a family, open to the public event at no charge so mark your calendars and plan to bring the family out over the weekend and on Monday night for this community celebration. Thanks to the Huber Heights Chamber of Commerce, Wayne Twp/Huber Heights Historical Society, City of Huber Heights, Ultimate Oldies Radio and Columbia Building Company for hosting this event.
