BEAVERCREEK — The City of Beavercreek Veterans Day Ceremony will be held on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, 1911 North Fairfield Road. The ceremony will honor and say thank you to all those many Americans who have served in the armed forces and those men and women currently defending our freedoms and the ideals of our country. Father Terry Schneider, St. Luke Catholic Church will give the invocation. American Legion Post No. 763 will post the colors with VFW Post No. 8312 raising the flag and giving a 21 gun salute. Soloists Doug Lloyd and John Sostrom will perform patriotic tributes. In addition, Beavercreek High School students Samantha Daughtery and Morgan Slone will play taps. Also participating in the event are the St. Andrews Pipe & Drum and Boy Scout Troop No. 71. Colonel Dawn E. Keasley, Commander of the 88th Mission Support Group, 88th Air Base Wing, Wright Patterson Air Force Base will be the guest speaker. Her distinguished career began at the United States Air Force Academy leading to duties at Fort Dix and Maxwell Air Force Base before coming to Wright Patterson Air Force Base in 2010. As commander, she leads and directs over 2,100 personnel and an annual budget of $54 million to support the base’s 27,400 person population on an installation spanning more than 8,200 acres. The public is invited to attend the community’s observance of Veterans Day. Parking is available on Fairwood Drive and at the Church of the Nazarene.
