Ron Perlman doesn’t like the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill signed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as he introduces it in a video shared on Twitter.
On Monday, DeSantis signed a measure into law banning sexual orientation and gender identity training from kindergarten through third grade, a settlement that has drawn widespread criticism from critics who claim that it marginalizes LGBTQ people.
“In Florida, we not only know that parents have a right to be involved, we insist that parents have a right to be involved,” DeSantis said during a press conference at Classical Preparatory. School in Spring Hill, Florida.
DeSantis and other Republicans have consistently said the bill makes sense and that parents, not teachers, should discuss sexual orientation and gender identity with their children.

The rule took effect just days after DeSantis signed a separate bill that could limit the books elementary schools can keep in their libraries or use in their classrooms.
“We will make sure that parents can send their children to school to receive education, not indoctrination,” DeSantis said to applause before signing the sexual orientation and gender identity measure during a a ceremony at a prep school outside of Tampa.
The law states: “Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties about sexual orientation or gender identity may not take place in kindergarten through 3rd grade or in a manner that does not is not appropriate for the age or development of students in accordance with state standards.” Parents could sue districts for violation.
