The AFTER phenomenon returns to the cinema: Will the story of Tessa and Hardin have a happy ending?

After a year, all lovers of romantic series have reason to be happy again. At the end of the holidays, the long-awaited fourth installment of the After saga will arrive in Slovak cinemas. In the news titled After: Bond, Tessa and Hardin’s relationship is set to enter the grand finale. Will they stay together or will their paths diverge forever?

The After series of films were based on Anna Todd’s bestsellers and achieved worldwide success similar to the Fifty Shades trilogy or the Twilight saga. The phenomenon called After was born on the Internet, where author Anna Todd began writing the love story of innocent Tessa and “bad boy” Hardin. His texts received more than a billion readings on the open-access platform Wattpad, and this unexpected success resulted in the publication of a series of 5-part books and subsequently in the filming of feature films. Today, the After books and movies have millions of fans around the world.

The film’s fourth chapter, titled After: The Bond, takes Tessa (Josephine Langford) and Hardin (Hero Fiennes Tiffin) to a crossroads in life, where each goes their own way. They should have been wooed, but Hardin’s moods are too erratic and Tessa longs for her own happiness. Both have changed. Shy Tessa is now a confident young woman, and Hardin is no longer the cynical, ruthless boy she fell in love with. Will their stormy, unbridled, endless love of the past ever have a future? Their relationship now has one last chance.

The plot of After: Bond begins where the previous film ended – in London at the wedding of Hardin’s mother. Hardin can’t come to terms with the shocking revelation about his real father. He begins to sink into the darkness of his soul and drown in alcohol. Tessa returns to America, where a personal tragedy befalls her. Immediately, Hardin also comes to her for support.

However, he is already too unpredictable and the fight with his own demons has consumed him so much that he will only escalate the situation and bring their fragile relationship to the brink of an end. Tessa realizes that despite the desire and love she feels for Hardin, the time has come when she must start thinking about herself and her own happiness. She leaves for New York to start over. After a while, a broken Hardin decides to fight for Tessa again, but it may be too late. Tessa is no longer an innocent student, she realizes her options in life and maybe she can be as cruel as Hardin once was. Every time they meet, the passion is stronger than both of them and they can’t resist it. But is it worth fighting for such a relationship at all costs?

The fourth film is unique in that Tessa and Hardin take a break from their relationship for the first time and decide to spend time alone. “They know they have to make some change in their lives without each other to become the people they need to be,” director Castille Landon said. “They aren’t together all the time like in previous films, which allowed Hero and Jo to bring new emotional depth to their characters,” added the director.

Although the story is set in London, Seattle and New York, After: Puto, like its predecessor After: Secret, was filmed in Bulgaria. The filmmakers managed to recreate the three Balkan towns so faithfully that when Hardin’s representative, London’s Hero Fiennes Tiffin, sent his friends a photo from Bulgaria and jokingly claimed he had already returned from filming in London, they believed him. “The sets in London were amazing. It’s crazy to be on a set where you really think you’re in London,” revealed the actor.

In addition to the scenes, the actors and creators were also pleasantly surprised by the Bulgarian fans, who are proof that the After series is a phenomenon all over the world. “When we started filming, a few people noticed that something was going on. By the end of the day, hundreds of fans were already outside the studio. It was amazing because we know these movies mean something. thing for people,” director Castille Landon recalled of the first day of filming.

The day that all “afteholics” and “afterholics” are looking forward to is near. After: Puto will arrive in Slovak cinemas on August 25, 2022.
